1. Who we are
RankSky.si (“RankSky”, “we”, “us”) provides a “Top Selling Product” popup service for online stores, available at rankspy.si (the “Service”). For the personal information of our advertisers and website visitors, we are the data controller. You can reach us at any time at support@rankspy.si.
2. Information we collect
a) Advertiser account information
When you create an advertiser account we collect your name, email address, password (stored only in encrypted, hashed form), your store's website address and store platform. We also store your dashboard settings, such as Automatic or Custom mode and the product you choose to feature.
b) Billing information
Subscriptions are paid through a third-party payment provider. Card and bank details are entered on the provider's secure pages and are not stored on our servers. We receive only what we need to manage your subscription, such as its status, renewal date and a customer reference.
c) Information collected by the RankSky tag on advertiser stores
When an advertiser installs our tag, it runs on their store's pages. On product pages it reads product information the store already publishes for search engines and sends us:
- the product page address, product name, product image address, price and currency;
- a count of product page views, stored as daily totals per product.
Like any website request, our servers also receive technical data such as the shopper's IP address, browser type and the page making the request. We use the IP address only briefly, to protect the Service from abuse (for example by limiting how many views one connection can record per hour). It is not stored with view counts and is not used to identify anyone.
The tag does not set cookies, does not use advertising identifiers, does not follow shoppers across websites and does not collect names, emails, payment details or anything a shopper types. It uses the browser's temporary session storage only to count a product once per visit and, if enabled, to remember that the popup was closed. That storage is cleared when the browser tab is closed.
d) Contact form and emails
If you contact us, we keep your name, email address, website (if given) and message so we can reply and keep a record of the conversation.
e) Our own website
When you visit rankspy.si, our server records standard log information. We use essential cookies to keep you logged in to the advertiser dashboard. We may use privacy-respecting analytics to understand how our website is used. Where the law requires consent for non-essential cookies, we will ask for it first.
3. How we use information
- To provide the Service: create and secure your account, verify your tag, rank your products by views and show the popup.
- To manage your free trial and subscription, and to send service emails such as welcome, verification, billing and important changes.
- To answer your questions and support requests.
- To keep the Service secure, prevent fraud and abuse, and fix problems.
- To improve the Service using aggregated, non-identifying statistics.
- To meet legal obligations, such as tax and accounting records.
We do not use your information for automated decisions that have legal or similarly significant effects on you.
4. Legal bases (EEA, UK and similar laws)
- Contract: to provide the Service you signed up for.
- Legitimate interests: to count product views for advertisers, secure the Service and improve it, in ways that respect shoppers' privacy (no cookies, no profiling, short-lived IP use).
- Legal obligation: for tax, accounting and lawful requests.
- Consent: where we ask for it, for example optional marketing emails. You can withdraw consent at any time.
5. Sharing
We do not sell or rent personal information. We share it only with:
- Service providers who help us run the Service, such as web hosting, email delivery, payment processing and website analytics. They act on our instructions and must protect the data.
- Advertisers, who see aggregated product view counts for their own store only.
- Authorities or other parties when the law requires it, or to protect our rights, users or the public.
- A buyer or successor if our business is sold or reorganised, under this same policy.
6. International transfers
We and our providers may process information in countries other than yours. When personal data from the EEA or UK is transferred, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.
7. How long we keep information
- Account information: while your account is open, and up to 12 months after it is closed, unless the law requires longer, for example for invoices.
- Daily product view counts: deleted automatically after about 120 days.
- Product details (name, image, price, page address): while the advertiser's account is open.
- Contact messages: up to 24 months.
- IP addresses used for abuse protection: no longer than one hour.
8. Security
We use encryption in transit (HTTPS), hashed passwords, access controls and regular updates to protect information. No system is completely secure. If a breach affects your personal data, we will notify you and the authorities where the law requires.
9. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or export your personal information, and to object to or restrict certain processing. Advertisers can update most account details in the dashboard. For anything else, email support@rankspy.si and we will respond within 30 days. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.
Shoppers: because the tag doesn't identify you, we usually can't link data to you. If you have a question about a particular store, contact that store, or write to us and we'll help.
10. For advertisers: your responsibilities
When you install the tag, you decide to use the Service on your store. You are responsible for telling your visitors about it in your own privacy policy and for meeting any notice or consent rules in your country. You can use this wording:
“We use RankSky.si to show our most popular product. On product pages, it records anonymous page views (product name, image, price and page address) to work out which product is most viewed. It does not use cookies or identify you. See https://www.rankspy.si/privacy/.”
11. Children
The Service is for businesses and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the Service changes. We will post the new version here with a new “Last updated” date and, for significant changes, notify advertisers by email or in the dashboard.
